Peter Blaškovič has created a Processing sketch that is just aces for simulating burning sigils: Fluid Fire Simulation 3. You can use your mouse to draw the sigil in simulated wood and then throw simulated fire at it and watch it burn. Below are some images of an example I created.
Very fascinating and fun program! I’m definitely a fan of it’s potential applications and also the visual residue during the burning process.
